A reader replied to my question yesterday, saying the 10.7.3 Combo updater did reinstall the supported models plist file - so Core2Duo upgraded (original CoreDuo/unsupported) mac owners should avoid the combo update. I added a note about that on the C2D upgrades page here. (Thursday a reader said the 10.7.3 via software Update (over 10.7.2) did not restore the plist file.)

Shortly after posting the Lion 10.7.3 update yesterday, Luca P. sent a report on installing the 10.7.3 update (delta via SU) on his C2D upgraded (originally CoreDuo) iMac, saying unlike the 10.7.2 update, 10.7.3 (via SU) did not reinstall the PlatformSupport.plist file. (Combo updater reportedly does however.)
